Our flag is representative of our independence and our unity as a nation.....one nation, under God, indivisible. Our flag has a proud and glorious history. It was at the lead of every battle fought by Americans. Many people have died protecting it. It even stands proudly on the surface of the moon.

As Americans, we have every right to be proud of our culture, our nation, and our flag. So raise the flag today and every day with pride!

Fitting for this special day, I have a letter I'd like to post from a friend. Don is a Great American.. and I hope you will join with us in spreading the word.

Dear friends!

Occasionally an event of such historic proportions forces you to stand up and take action. The purpose of this correspondence is to make all aware of my unrelenting pursuit in having the American flag that was pulled from the rubble of the twin towers, two days after September 11th 2001, and have it honorably displayed in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C..

I am good friends with Port Authority Police Officer Curt Kellinger, who had rescued that flag from destruction and took it to the funerals of his fallen comrades, to Yankee Stadium for the 2001 World Series, to the Super Bowl, and the 2002 Olympics. It was given national and international coverage, seen by billions of viewers worldwide and marked an end of innocence in our country.

Now that flag lies in obscurity in some Port Authority bureaucrat’s office. This I feel is a disservice. It must be prominently displayed, so we 'never forget' now or generations from now.

That flag deserves the same patriotic distinction as the flag that flew over Fort McHenry in the war of 1812; known forever as our Star Spangled banner, or the flag that was raised on Iwo Jima, or the flag over the Arizona memorial in Oahu, Hawaii, or the flag at Tranquility Base on the lunar surface of the moon. All these flags, were the stars and stripes of steadfastness, and this flag is no different.

I am requesting that President Bush, by executive order, have this 'symbol of resolve' enshrined forever in the Smithsonian Institution.

Congressmen make U.S. Flags that have been flown over the U.S. Capitol available for constituents. Will you crusade to save the flag I aforementioned?

Will you help me make this endeavor come true, and share this memorable flag with our deserving American public? Please email, write and call your elected representatives, and assist me in making this a reality. God bless you and the United States of America.

My best to you all always.

Don from Lake Ronkonkoma

One of Kerry's best efforts...

One of Kerry's best efforts his freshman year was in French. Many Americans nowadays have forgotten the meaning and traditions of Memorial Day. I was listening to Sean Hannity on the radio Friday and he was quizzing people about the meaning of Memorial Day... and asking them questions about American History. I was shocked at how many people didn't know what it was all about. At many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored and neglected. Most people no longer remember the proper flag etiquette for the day. While there are towns and cities that still hold Memorial Day parades, many have not held a parade in decades. Some people think the day is for honoring any and all dead, and not just those fallen in service to our country.

To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the "National Moment of Remembrance" resolution was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans "To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to 'Taps'."

The Moment of Remembrance is a step in the right direction to returning the meaning back to the day. What is needed is a full return to the original day of observance. Set aside one day out of the year for the nation to get together to remember, reflect and honor those who have given their all in service to their country.

Also, for any of those interested, tonight on TLC (The Learning Channel) at 9pm Eastern is Operation Homecoming. It is a five part series which observes servicemen and women coming home from Iraq and honoring those that lost their lives there. It's a fitting tribute that it will premiere tonight on Memorial Day. I'm sure it will be
emotionally charged and I know that I'll be crying. :) Just thought I would share the info with you all.. in case any of you wanted to see it.

There is no way in the world that I could thank every soldier who has ever fought for our country, although I wish I could. I do my best to do what I can.. and I pray for all of them everyday. Each of us Americans have what we have today.. because of those who fought for our country in the past and those who continue to do so in the present.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of those still fighting in the various theatres of operation, as well as with those families who have lost loved ones or currently have loved ones away fighting. These service men and women sacrifice so much for us, as do their families. Thank you.

Today is a day that is formally recognized to remember and give thanks. Honestly, this is something that should be done everyday.

Single Bullet Conyers

One of my fellow bloggers from MarkLevinFan, Smooth Stone, has written a great piece on Michigan US Representative John Conyers, Jr.(D). For any of you readers in this area, I want to encourage you to get out and vote.

Many times, voters turn out only for what is considered "major" elections. (i.e. presidential, senate seats, etc.) What you need to think about is that the people that we elect to run our local government is just as important... actually, it is more so. The jobs our locally elected officials do directly impacts our lives on a daily basis. So please, do yourself a favor and vote.

I will be heading to the polls around lunchtime to vote for Jim Bashour, who is running for Selectman. Mr. Bashour is well known in our small community for his dedication to our town. I know he is the right choice for the job.

Voting isn't a right... it's a great privilege. Don't take it for granted. Do it today or as I have always said in the past... You have no right to complain.

Hmmmm...

I was thinking today... (Don't laugh) :) I thought that I would make a little note here to clarify a few things.

I've decided to take my new blog in a different route. At first, I was just going to rant about all of the liberal insanity around me, but that didn't satisfy all of that creativity dying to get out of me. So, bear with me as I make adjustments. I've decided to keep ranting but I will add my own version of humor with photoshopped pictures.

Also, I'm not going to make this a Kennedy-bashing blog. Although, you have to admit.. he is a large and easy target. He's one of my major problems in Massachusetts, but there are so many more. Right now, Teddy has been making a large spectacle of himself, so there is more to talk about. Honestly, he's asking for it.

So thanks to all of you who have been stopping by and to all of you that stumbled in here accidently.

Hope you enjoy it!

Teddy pulls a fast one... or at least tries to.

What lengths will Teddy and the other liberals go to in order to prevent the up or down vote of these "activist" judicial nominees?

Nothing would surprise me after listening to all of this liberal gibberish the last two days.

Lautenberg was even comparing this situation in the senate to the senate in the new Star Wars movie!! The plane was reported to be 90 seconds ( 3 miles) from the White House.

This caused some panicking and a mass exodus from Capitol Hill. We've heard reports of how Hillary calmly exited.. but what about some of the other senators? What about ole Teddy?

While panic gripped much of Capitol Hill in the wake of yesterday's security scare, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy opted for salad and some ice tea.

As thousands of startled lawmakers and staffers rushed to evacuate the Capitol, Kennedy (D-Mass.) coolly mapped his own private escape route to The Monocle, a clubby restaurant favored by pols and lobbyists for decades.

The 73-year-old senator, who had been on the Senate floor when the alarms sounded shortly before noon, calmly strolled a few blocks to the famed restaurant where he dined with a few other senators and staffers until the crisis abated, a Kennedy aide said.

-Andrew Miga BostonHerald.com

It's nice to know that when there is a crisis in Washington... that our illustrious senator has his priorities right. FOOD first!

Granted, this was not truly a crisis. The plane crossed into restricted airspace due to veteran pilot and his companion, who was working towards his pilot license, not paying close enough attention to where they were. But it could have been more serious. Kennedy did not know at that time what was going on.

But, hey... he was hungry. Guess I should cut him a break.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://masshypocrisy.blogspot.com/2005/05/panic-in-dc-well-thats-time-to-eat-for.html' title='Panic in D.C.? Just gives me something else to rant about. :)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://masshypocrisy.blogspot.com/2005/05/another-thing-to-make-you-proud-of.html' title='Another Thing to Make You Proud of Being a Mass. You know, "Blahhh, blah-blah.. blah".

Yesterday, Kennedy made what MSM reporters are calling a "scathing" speech on the Senate floor. Instead of boring you to tears with his entire speech, I'll break it down for you. Basically, Teddy was whining and accusing the GOP Senate leadership of bulldozing over the intentions of the nation's founders by attempting to eliminate the Senate's only way of blocking a vote.

[sarcasm]
Yes, he is so right! I'm sure that our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves because the GOP leadership is trying to prevent the Dems from filibustering judicial nominees. I'm so glad that Teddy is so in touch with what our Founding Fathers would have wanted.
[/sarcasm]

The only person Teddy is in touch with is himself. Ewww.. Strike that. I don't want that image stuck in my mind.

Anyway.. back to Teddy's "scathing" performance yesterday. In addition to the speech, Kennedy, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, laid out an 11-page statement documenting the unsuccessful efforts of past presidents who tried to diminish the Senate's power on judicial appointments.

Way to go, Teddy.. that should stop that ole mean GOP. Show them how everyone in the past was unsuccessful. *shiver* I'm sure it gave them all cold chills.

"Throughout our history, the Senate has structured its processes to reflect its unique powers," Kennedy said. "For such irreversible steps as conferring lifetime judicial authority, it has given its minority the ability to protect our republic from the combined tyranny of a willful executive branch and an equally willful and like-minded small majority of senators."
Combined tyranny? Oooh... guess I wasn't supposed to be laughing at that point. Guess I shouldn't laugh at the "small majority" part either. Small majority? Uhmm.. last time I checked, when you are talking about a majority... it's not usually considered small. It's the majority of the group, Teddy.

In my opinion, if there is any tyranny going on.. it's the Democratic minority (See, no need to say "small" minority, Teddy.. that's kind of understood) that is preventing an up or down vote on Judicial nominees. But, Teddy and I don't really see eye-to-eye on anything. So I can see how our opinions could differ here. The main difference being that my opinion is the "right" one.

Kennedy's speech comes in the midst of Republicans' attempting to eliminate the Senate's rule of needing 60 votes to end a debate in order for a vote to go forward on the floor. In the Senate, there are 55 Republicans, 44 Democrats and one Independent. That Independent is Sen. Jim Jeffords of Vermont, a former Republican who votes with Democrats. You might as well consider him a Dem, but since he wants to cling to that Indy label, I digress.

In case some of you have been out of the loop for awhile, what this all boils down to is that by refusing to end debate, the Democrats are obstructing the ability to vote on seven nominations for appellate court judges. Some of these nominees have been waiting 4 years for an up or down vote!! These Dems can't stand the fact that they are the minority and will do anything to keep these nominees from being confirmed. Republicans could have used this tactic in the past, but they have not and they won't. (No matter what liberal websites or blogs are telling you out there.)

"The president's views on this are well known," Alan Abney, a spokesman for the White House, said yesterday. "He just thinks these judicial nominees should get an up or down vote."
GOP Senate Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., has said the same. He is leading the charge in the Senate to end the right to a filibuster, which is seen as a top priority for most party conservatives.

"To me, it's common sense, and it has to do with principle, and that is that each of these nominees deserve an up or down vote on the floor of the United States Senate," Frist told reporters. "Confirm them or reject them, vote yes or no, but allow them the courtesy of a vote."

Exactly... do something for Pete's sake. What am I saying... we should just talk about them for another four years, right Teddy?

Frist could end a filibuster simply by getting a favorable ruling from the chair, which would be occupied either by another Republican senator or by Vice President Dick Cheney. Democrats would challenge the ruling, at which point it could be affirmed by a simple majority of the Senate. Simple and sweet, right?

"I'm also committed to overcoming the minority's filibuster and restoring this 220 years or more of Senate tradition and history," Frist said, according to a recording made by Americans United for Separation of Church and State. "The minority broke the tradition, they violated the founders' intent and we will bring the president's nominees up for a vote and we will confirm them."
We're waiting, Senator Frist... Maybe not patiently, but we are waiting.

Removing the use of filibusters probably would set the stage for the biggest judicial fight of Bush's presidency... filling a vacancy on the Supreme Court. Though none of the nine justices has announced any intention to leave, Chief Justice William Rehnquist's battle with thyroid cancer has prompted speculation that he could decide to retire when the court's current term ends in June.

Kennedy said that the appointments to the federal appeals courts are critical because most of the Supreme Court justices come from the federal court.

"Now the president wants to pack key appellate courts, in a trial run for doing the same to the Supreme Court, with activist ideological judges he knows could not possibly command a bipartisan consensus in the Senate," Kennedy said.
Kennedy said it is the Senate's obligation to block an "overreaching abuse of power by the White House and the Republican majority."

"History will judge us harshly in the Senate if we don't stand tall against the brazen abuses of power demonstrated by these nominees," Kennedy said of the president's nominations.
Brazen abuses of power??? These nominees?? Teddy, I don't think you are in any position to judge anyone. You aren't fit to sit in the presence of these people. We can only hope that history will judge YOU harshly, Mr. Kennedy. I've heard enough... go jump in the lake, or maybe you would prefer a pond.

Tax-achusetts

Now... Imagine that you live in a state that has a very large surplus of revenue. "How large?" you might ask.

Quite large would be the answer. Let's say this state collected more than $2 billion in tax revenues in April, setting a record for the most money collected in a month by that particular government. Ten months into the current fiscal year, the state has collected $1 billion more in revenue than expected. Even though some of the surplus will likely be spent prior to the end of the fiscal year, June 30th, the state will have hundreds of millions of dollars in surplus.

"Wow" just might be your answer.

But another question just hangs out there... "What do you do with this surplus?"

This is what is happening in Massachusetts right now. After seeing the revenues in April, Governor Romney immediately called on the Legislature to reduce the income tax to 5 percent, citing the revenue numbers as evidence the state collects more money than it needs.

"We as a state can afford to honor the will of the voters and return their tax rate to 5 percent," Romney said.

The state can reduce the income tax from 5.3 percent to 5 percent and not cut services. The state is expected to finish this fiscal year with more than the $230 million needed to cover the first year of an income tax cut.

So how did the Democrats respond?

During the House budget debate two weeks ago, some Democrats claimed there was no state surplus. The House Democrats defeated an amendment to reduce the income tax to 5 percent. The Democrats technically voted to study the issue, but let's face it... basically they killed the legislation.

Many Democrats are making false claims that economy is not good and that our state cannot afford to give us this very small tax cut. They couldn't be more wrong. Our strong tax revenues and our consistently solid job growth shows a strong economy.. not the opposite.

So what do the Dems propose?

Why.. SPEND IT, of course!

They have come up with some doozies...

Democrats propose plenty of frivolous spending while refusing to cut waste. They refused to merge the Turnpike and MassHighway and spend the $190 million savings on toll relief.

But here is what they want to spend our surplus on:

Tuition breaks for illegal immigrants.

Pay raises for favored State House employees (so-called "court officers" who hold the doors open in the House and Senate chambers).

Hiring a "state geologist".

[sarcasm]

Oh, I'm sorry... You're right. Those really are very important things. I mean, my goodness... what would those illegal immigrants do without those tuition breaks?? It's just heart-breaking.

I don't know what I am complaining about. It's obvious that these Democrats know exactly what they are doing and I should just go back to my lower Western corner of the state and hush.

[/sarcasm]

If this doesn't anger every single resident of Massachusetts.. then you need to have your head examined! This is our money that they are spending. A HUGE surplus of our money!!

You do have a say... open your mouth and use it, open your email and send it, pick up your telephone and call someone... Don't just sit on your butt and take it.

Contact your State Representatives and Senator. Send a letter to the editor of your local paper or contact your local talk radio show.

You can make a difference.

MASSHypocrisy

Well, I finally did it. I jumped aboard the blogger wagon with both feet.

Welcome to MassHypocrisy. I am a Southern Conservative gal that moved to Massachusetts about a year and half ago. Moving from a "Red" state to a "Blue" state has been a major change for me. First of all, the thought of having to claim Kerry and Kennedy as my Senators made my stomach turn. After coming to terms with that, I had a lot of thinking to do.

So I made a decision. I can sit back and accept it or I can get out and fight it. So fight it, I will.

This Blog will contain my thoughts and feelings as a Conservative living in Mass. and my fight against the hypocrisy of the liberal majority.

Thanks for reading... and comments are greatly welcomed.
